Where in the world are you?: Sept 12, 2013

Homework: Current Events for some!  Check dates on calendar below if you're unsure of your date

We're continuing to practice our latitude and longitude skills!   Today we played a game where students had to figure out where in the world someone was (which latitude and longitude coordinates they were on) by asking "direction based questions".  So, I would secretly pick a spot on the map and students would have to ask questions like, "Are you west of Colorado?", or, "Are you east of the Rocky Mountains?"  Until they could pinpoint my exact coordinates.  The trick was that you didn't want to guess my coordinates until you were VERY sure, because if you guess wrong you're out!  This game is awesome because it helps to reinforce cardinal directions, looking for geographic and physical features on a map, as well as finding latitude and longitude.

Whichever group would win each round was able to pick the secret location for the following round.

Tomorrow is current events day, so if it's your day to present I need to have your template and presentation by tonight!
