Jan 27, 2014: Phoenicians

It's a cold one out there! Happy Monday! Today is the first day of the third grading period, so we signed up for this quarter's current events.  Check the calendar at the bottom of the page if you're not sure what date you are signed up for.

There was a slight change to this quarters current event project.....you cannot present with Google presentation OR prezi (if you have already used prezi).  This will force you to become exposed to some different types of presentations and to think outside of the box!

We then spent the rest of class talking about the Phoenicians which is our last Mesopotamian section we are going to cover! We learned that the Phoenicians gained wealth and power from snails!!!  Who knew! They gained control of sea trade by telling other civilizations terrifying tales of horrible sea creatures that they encountered.....pretty clever!  Finally we discussed their alphabet which we found out to be very similar to our current alphabet! I wonder how that happened....

Tomorrow and Wednesday we will review everything we have learned about Mesopotamia and then Thursday we will take the test!
